A League of Our Own: When Power Meets Purpose

This weekend, I stepped into a room expecting to be a vendor—but I walked out completely filled, encouraged, and reminded of my why.

Thanks to the gracious invitation from my friend Mrs. Cennita France, I attended A League of Our Own: Raising the Bar, Setting the Standard & Securing the Bag—an unforgettable event created by Dr. Renee Hornbuckle and JaCoi James Pugh, hosted at the beautiful Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, TX.

It was an intimate setting, but the impact was massive. Over lunch and mimosas, I joined a circle of powerhouse women—visionaries, leaders, and change-makers—united in purpose and passion. Together, we laughed, reflected, networked, and received wisdom that poured into both heart and hustle.

One question asked during the event left me speechless:
“When was the last time you felt soft, seen, and safe?”

My answer came immediately: May 26, 2015. The day I lost my husband, Albert.
That was the day everything changed.
But that moment in the room reminded me:
✨ I can reset—even while falling apart.
✨ I can lead in grief and still walk in purpose.
✨ I can be in alignment for my assignment.

I was deeply moved by the words and presence of leaders like Dr. Renee Hornbuckle, Kadena Tate, Mayor Rachel Proctor, Robyn Gray, and so many more. This was not just a vendor experience—it was a spiritual and professional recalibration.

A League of Our Own is more than a title. It’s a movement. A gateway. A place where high-value, multihyphenated women are reminded they were never meant to walk this journey alone.

To every woman reading this: Keep walking. Keep showing up. You’re not just invited—you’re called.

With purpose and power,
